Bridesmaid Details

When I first asked my lovely friends and sister to be bridesmaids, there was an immediate panic about dresses! They're all different sizes, have different styles and different complexions. Not to mention I had no idea what I wanted for my wedding in terms of colour themes and style.

I think however, that I may have had the easiest dress shopping experience ever with my girls. I saw the dresses online, ordered them to the shop and the girls met me there to try them on. Within ten minutes the job was done. All the girls loved them, and we even had a woman in the changing room oohing and aahhing over the dresses, which was lovely. She was the Maid of Honour for her friend, and was seriously considering asking the bride to change her dresses to the same as mine. I can't imagine that going down well with the Bride.

So back to the dresses... They're different colours in different lights and the picture above does not do them justice, but they are a lilac/lavender colour, with lots of sparkle that catch beautifully in the light. I'm actually jealous that I don't have one myself! They have a cowl back and give a hint of vintage glamour with a modern twist.

The next mission is the shoes and little girls bridesmaid dresses.
I would love to hear others' experiences of organising a wedding!

18 Months Engaged

One cold Saturday morning...
Our engagement was a complete surprise to me. So much of a surprise that I had my hair scraped up, no make up on and was wearing an oversized hoodie and my Converse. I was a mess.
A few days before our 9 year anniversary, at around 8am on a Saturday (Yep 8am!!!) I was dragged out of bed and told to get ready to go out for some breakfast. Now usually this request would have been answered with profanities, as anyone who knows me well will tell you that I am not a morning person. As I’d kept him waiting for hours to get breakfast the previous weekend whilst I got ready, I thought I had better not argue.
I was taken to a lovely tea room in Castleton and then on to Peverill Castle. Our previous summer consisted of me dragging Matt around the different English Heritage sites, so I remember thinking how lovely it was that he’d taken me to the castle. Throughout the hike up the hill, we hummed the theme tune of Game of  Thrones, such geeks.
While we were in the castle, Matt told me to look out of the window to the view over Castleton. When I turned back around, he was down on one knee. The lovely moment was soon spoilt by my shocked reaction of “Are you joking?” Poor lad.

18 months on, we have bought a house together, celebrated our 10 year anniversary, argued over the colour of paint and who is going to do the washing up and have planned a wedding.
High Five Matty :)

Saying Hello

Hello!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Kelly, or Kel to most people, and I am very new to blogging.
It is something that I have wanted to explore for a long time, but as usual, life got in the way and I could never find the time. Well I have decided that now is the time.

A few facts about me:

Fact 1:
For the last 5 years I have been working my a** off as a design lecturer at a college in sunny
Yorkshire. The hard work has paid off and now I am the course leader for 3 groups!! Bring on half term. Not even joking.

Fact 2:
I am a MASSIVE Harry Potter nerd. I love everything about it. Something my students find hilarious, but I am a proud Potterhead.

Fact 3:
I love Christmas and can't wait to celebrate it in my own house this year! It is going to look like Santa threw up on it :)

Fact 4:
My family is very important to me, this includes my lovely FiancĂ© Matt. I really hate using that word, Fiance, not Matt ;)

Fact 5:
I love flowers, candles and cushions. An obsession which has developed since moving into my own house. It has become a ninja operation to sneak these into the house lately, due to the few tantrums Matt has had about the "waste of money" these are. Ha waste?! What a joker!

Fact 6:
I can't cook. A fact that upsets me no end. It is not for a lack of trying either. If I am cooking, it will either be burnt or undercooked... usually both. I have no idea where I am going wrong.

Fact 7:
I am half Greek Cypriot, half English. Along with my brother and sister, we are probably the palest Greeks in the world. All you had to give us was beautiful olive skin Dad but we got deathly pale with freckles. Cheers.

Fact 8:
I am extremely indecisive. This makes day to day life very tedious. I can stand in Staples staring at pens for 10 times longer than is appropriate. I am also a huge procrastinator. Said trip to buy a pen in the first place may have been put off for about 5 days!

I hope this gives you a little insight into my world.
